Senior Territory Cattle Sales Representative – Eastern ND, Northwest MN, Northeast SD

Lead cattle sales growth for Merck Animal Health across Eastern North Dakota, Northwest Minnesota, and Northeast South Dakota. Build partnerships with producers, veterinarians, distributors, and other industry stakeholders.

Description

  • Create and implement territory business plans for Eastern North Dakota, Northwest Minnesota, and Northeast South Dakota
  • Increase sales, market penetration, product adoption, and market share
  • Develop relationships with veterinarians, producers, distributors, nutritionists, and industry influencers
  • Assess territory opportunities, market conditions, and competitive risks
  • Generate demand and increase product use through customer engagement, education, and field events
  • Coordinate with distribution teams, National Account Managers, Corporate Account Teams, and other internal partners
  • Provide consultative solutions that improve customer outcomes and support business goals
  • Represent the full Animal Health portfolio and broaden adoption across product categories
  • Evaluate territory performance, sales trends, competitor activity, and market conditions
  • Allocate territory resources and investment to maximize market share and return on investment
  • Oversee territory expenses and resources
  • Report customer feedback, industry developments, and market intelligence to leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Work with Field Technical Services on educational, technical, and value-added programs
  • Maintain knowledge of animal health products, industry developments, production practices, and competitors
  • Exchange effective practices and territory strategies with regional colleagues
  • Pursue professional growth and meet development goals

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required
  • Five years of relevant experience in sales, livestock production, animal health, agriculture, or territory management with a bachelor's degree, or ten years of relevant experience without one
  • Understanding of beef and dairy operations, including cow-calf, feedlot, and dairy production systems
  • Demonstrated ability to create and carry out territory business plans
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and relationship-development abilities
  • Ability to influence veterinarians, producers, nutritionists, and distribution partners
  • Effective organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to interpret sales information, market trends, and business analytics
  • Adaptability to changing market conditions and priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use mobile technology and business systems
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including overnight trips and occasional weekend activities
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required
