Senior Site Reliability Engineer – FedRAMP

Cisco seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to operate AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure for Webex for Government. The role focuses on reliability, automation, security, compliance, and production incident response in a FedRAMP environment.

Description

  • Operate and maintain resilient AWS, Kubernetes, and microservices infrastructure supporting Webex for Government
  • Monitor service health and diagnose complex incidents in a 24/7 production environment
  • Restore production services promptly during incidents
  • Automate recurring operational tasks and infrastructure provisioning
  • Improve deployment safety, efficiency, and consistency
  • Support identity and access management, logging, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and FedRAMP continuous monitoring
  • Partner with engineering, security, and compliance teams to assess operational risks and strengthen reliability
  • Create technical documentation, runbooks, and incident reports
  • Participate in on-call rotations and handoff calls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, equivalent practical experience, or a master’s degree in a related field with 4 years of experience
  • At least 4 years of developing high-quality software with Python, Bash, Go, or comparable languages
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, including the kernel, system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
  • Experience building and maintaining Docker-based containerized applications
  • Experience creating multi-stage Dockerfiles
  • Understanding of horizontally scalable microservice architectures
  • Production experience running containerized workloads with Kubernetes
  • Experience operating services in FedRAMP, government cloud, or another regulated environment
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and root-cause analysis
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated production deployments with GitLab, Jenkins, or comparable tools
  • Experience with highly available, multi-region distributed systems, capacity planning, and disaster recovery
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities, including runbooks, operational procedures, and audit-ready evidence
  • Familiarity with security standards, vulnerability management, and incident response processes
  • Experience serving on an on-call roster with 24 on-call shifts and handoff calls
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to perform the work on U.S. soil
