Senior Contract Manager - Canada (Remote)

Lead commercial strategy, contract risk, claims, and negotiations for GE Vernova’s Canadian hydroelectric projects. Manage agreements from bid preparation through execution, close-out, and warranty.

Description

  • Own contract strategy for major Canadian hydroelectric projects across bidding, execution, close-out, and warranty stages.
  • Protect GE Vernova’s commercial position by managing contractual risk and developing opportunities.
  • Oversee contract responsibilities throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Draft, review, and adapt commercial clauses to project needs and governing contract frameworks.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, amendments, and commercial arrangements with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Help project teams interpret and fulfill their contractual obligations.
  • Prepare notices, amendments, change proposals, claims, and related contractual correspondence.
  • Review agreements for risks, opportunities, deviations, and critical watchpoints.
  • Create and maintain contract management plans.
  • Lead change, claims, dispute-avoidance, and dispute-resolution strategies with project leadership and Legal.
  • Transfer applicable contractual requirements into supplier and subcontractor agreements.
  • Administer contractual notices, changes, claims, disputes, and insurance matters.
  • Partner with project, commercial, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, finance, sourcing, and other stakeholder teams.
  • Monitor contractual commitments and communicate requirements across projects.
  • Contribute to risk and opportunity reviews and advance mitigation and opportunity-capture actions.
  • Deliver recurring contractual risk assessments and governance updates.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced contract management professionals.
  • Monitor contractual compliance and record deviations.
  • Keep contractual records and key decisions fully traceable.
  • Coordinate major claims with Legal and propose resolutions for complex matters.
  • Define processes for correspondence, notices, insurance, delays, variations, and claims records.
  • Maintain tools that track obligations, milestones, and contractual events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, quantity surveying, business, finance, law, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of contract management experience in complex project settings, such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, or major industrial sectors.
  • Proven ability to organize, negotiate, and draft complex, high-value amendments, changes, and claims.
  • Strong understanding of project financial drivers, including cost, margin, risk, opportunity, and cash impact, and how they connect to contract management.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Canada as needed.
  • Hydropower, power generation, major infrastructure, or other complex industrial project experience is preferred.
  • Extensive experience managing turnkey or EPC projects is preferred.
  • Experience with major equipment supply, installation, consortium, or other complex delivery models is preferred.
  • Experience serving utility, public-sector, or major institutional customers in Canada is preferred.
  • Experience handling significant claims, dispute avoidance, or disputes is preferred.
  • French-language capability is preferred.
  • Leadership capability and interest in future functional leadership opportunities are preferred.
  • Strong commercial judgment and business acumen.
