Remote Release Customs Analyst

Process customs entries, tariff classifications, shipment releases, and related billing data remotely for Livingston International. Support accurate, compliant, and timely shipment processing across brokerage and freight-forwarding operations.

Description

  • Process, rate when applicable, and release client shipments promptly in line with operating procedures and service standards
  • Prepare customs entries by reviewing documents and selecting the correct clients, vendors, keywords, and HS codes
  • Enter shipment details for release, rating, and billing while ensuring all required fields are complete and accurate
  • Determine the correct value for duty and tariff treatment from invoice information and sale terms
  • Contact Release Import Analysts or client service teams to obtain missing documents, information, or release instructions
  • Review release-condition, compliance, and rating-compliance documentation, including free-trade certificates
  • Apply SOPs, ESPs, business rules, and client-specific instructions, recommending updates when appropriate
  • Identify workflow improvements that increase efficiency and strengthen client service
  • Research and answer Call Center information requests professionally by phone or email at non-Air/Sea locations
  • Organize work according to client priorities and customs requirements
  • Escalate two-step release needs and authorization or release problems to the appropriate analyst, supervisor, or Customs Specialist
  • Update, approve, and release billing information as required in Canada
  • Support billing activities and enter rating data into automated systems when needed
  • Contribute to the daily operation of Release Operations alongside other team members
  • Use available automation tools to support shipment release processing
  • Complete other related duties assigned by management
  • Follow established policies and procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
  • An associate degree or other post-secondary education is preferred
  • No prior experience is required
  • Candidates without the designation must be pursuing or have completed the Certified Customs Specialists (CCS) credential through CSCB or NCBFAA
  • Passing the CCS examination is required for further advancement
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills focused on serving clients effectively
  • Capacity to manage high volumes of work while meeting strict deadlines
  • Consistent attention to detail, organization, completeness, and accuracy
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Judgment to make decisions and recommendations within authorized limits
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional image
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Comfort using a personal computer and standard business equipment and software
  • Must be located in the United States
