Remote Billing Specialist II

MediaNews Group is seeking a remote Billing Specialist II to manage advertising billing, contracts, rates, adjustments, and month-end processing for newspaper properties. The role supports local advertising teams by resolving Mactive billing issues and maintaining accurate invoicing workflows.

Description

  • Prepare and validate advertising billing files for assigned newspaper properties
  • Complete month-end billing processes
  • Provide subject-matter expertise in advertising rating through the Mactive system
  • Resolve “wrong rate” and “rating error” queues in Mactive and release approved ads to print
  • Review contracts and rates entered by the SSC
  • Serve as the primary billing contact for local advertising departments
  • Transmit statement files to Shoom for electronic invoicing
  • Investigate and resolve billing issues and internal inquiries
  • Train new employees on systems and data-entry procedures
  • Test and research projects and system upgrades
  • Support unapplied payment processing and billing adjustments

Requirements

  • Understanding of accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions, correspondence, and financial documents
  • Ability to build Excel spreadsheets with formulas when needed
  • Ability to resolve practical issues in situations with limited standardization
  • Demonstrated initiative, interpersonal effectiveness, attention to detail, teamwork, and customer focus
  • Associate’s degree or two years of experience with MNG
  • Familiarity with automated billing systems, preferably Mactive and/or PBS
  • Willingness to complete and pass all required pre-employment background checks
