Principal Offshore Structural Engineer - Epsom Hybrid

Lead offshore structural engineering for fixed and floating wind structures at AtkinsRéalis in Epsom’s hybrid team. Deliver complex projects from concept and FEED through detailed design while guiding engineers and coordinating stakeholders.

Description

  • Manage a global portfolio of offshore wind farm and asset-management projects through concept, FEED, and detailed design stages
  • Create innovative engineering solutions for major offshore wind developments
  • Lead a small team of offshore structural engineers
  • Deliver work packages in line with client requirements, industry standards, engineering procedures, and Project Quality Plans
  • Design and analyse fixed and floating offshore structures
  • Analyse and design offshore wind assets, including wind turbine generator foundations, meteorological masts, and substation platforms
  • Use integrated methods such as pile-soil interaction, PISA soil analysis, and time-domain analysis for wind and wave dynamic loads
  • Lead projects or support lead engineers in delivering work within agreed budgets and schedules
  • Review, verify, and approve engineering designs
  • Work with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Help advance the digital practice
  • Mentor less experienced engineers

Requirements

  • Chartered engineer with substantial offshore experience, particularly in primary or secondary steel design for offshore wind turbine generator foundations or offshore substations
  • Experience designing foundations for offshore wind farms
  • Knowledge of offshore wind design developments, statutory requirements, codes of practice, and industry standards
  • Proficiency with ANSYS, SESAM, SACS, or STAADPRO
  • Hands-on experience with offshore structural work, including transport and installation procedures, design for manufacture, and offshore environmental loading
  • Able to lead projects or work with a lead engineer to deliver within budget and schedule
  • Able to provide effective direction to a small team
  • Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams and adapting to varied working environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn from colleagues
  • Able to present technical work clearly and confidently
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Security clearance may be required, including evidence of at least five years of UK residency where applicable
