Innovation Discovery Engineer – Front-End Innovation (Hybrid, Netherlands)

Lead front-end innovation for Wavin by uncovering customer needs, testing prototypes, and evaluating emerging opportunities. Help shape new products, systems, and services for sustainable building and infrastructure.

Description

  • Work at the intersection of customer needs, technology, and business opportunities at the front end of innovation
  • Discover unmet customer needs and develop them into differentiated products, systems, and services
  • Gather market insight and identify customer challenges by engaging contractors, engineering consultancies, municipalities, developers, and other value-chain partners
  • Convert customer and market insights into concepts for innovative products, systems, and services
  • Create and test prototypes, Proofs of Concept, and Proofs of Value through an Explore, Build, Validate process
  • Use rapid experimentation to evaluate technical feasibility, customer value, and commercial potential
  • Partner across market segments, business units, Product Management, and Technology & Innovation
  • Develop external relationships with customers, start-ups, and knowledge partners
  • Lower technical and commercial uncertainty before opportunities move into formal product development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Product Design, or a comparable technical field
  • Five to eight years of experience in engineering, product development, or innovation
  • Demonstrated success turning ideas into functioning solutions
  • Strong capability in technical problem-solving
  • Practical experience building and validating prototypes
  • Solid understanding of commercial considerations
  • Clear communication skills for working with customers and stakeholders in an international setting
  • Professional fluency in English
  • A curious, hands-on, pragmatic, and resourceful working style
  • Ability to take responsibility, learn quickly, and operate effectively amid uncertainty
