Description

  • Lead a portfolio of technology projects and developers working with distributed microservices and full-stack systems
  • Develop solutions that address the company’s regulatory requirements
  • Track technology developments, test and learn emerging tools, and engage with internal and external technology communities
  • Mentor members of the engineering organization
  • Work with digital product managers to deliver reliable cloud solutions supporting millions of Americans’ financial empowerment
  • Apply programming languages, databases, container orchestration platforms, and AWS services
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across Agile teams
  • Establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence
  • Collaborate with architects on service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
  • Find opportunities for improvement, deliver focused refactoring, and reduce technical debt
  • Improve system performance
  • Help shape long-term technology strategy by assessing emerging tools and practices in a “you build it, you own it” environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative discipline, such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering
  • At least four years of software engineering experience, excluding internships
  • At least two years of experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • Proficiency or experience with Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
  • Experience working with open-source relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • Preferred: At least seven years of coding experience across more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala
  • Preferred: At least three years of experience with databases and database management systems
  • Preferred: At least three years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • Preferred: At least four years of contributing to open-source frameworks
  • Preferred: At least three years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks
  • Preferred: At least four years of creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs
  • Preferred: At least three years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
  • Preferred: At least three years of experience with Git-based version-control systems
  • Preferred: At least three years of troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments
  • Preferred: Experience using modern AI coding tools and IDE copilots
  • Preferred: At least one year of mentoring engineers and supporting professional development within technical teams
  • Preferred: At least one year of using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems
  • Preferred: Experience with interactive AI tools beyond basic code completion
  • Preferred: Experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives or large-scale technical programs
  • Preferred: Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams
