Entry-Level Civil Engineer (Onsite)

Support civil site development and infrastructure projects at Moffatt & Nichol through design preparation, engineering analysis, calculations, reports, and construction documentation.

Description

  • Support design and construction work by reviewing project concepts, architectural drawings, and models
  • Gather and evaluate reports, maps, drawings, aerial imagery, soil tests, terrain information, hydrological data, and related topographic and geologic materials
  • Develop feasibility studies through engineering analysis, environmental impact assessment, and data compilation
  • Prepare civil site development plans and reports covering layout, grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and related infrastructure
  • Complete engineering calculations and develop cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications, and reports
  • Help produce construction documentation, including specifications, plans, and schedules
  • Conduct limited field observations to support construction activities and data collection
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Engineer in Training certification is preferred
  • Civil engineering experience of 0 to 2 years is expected
  • Relevant internship experience is required for entry-level applicants
  • Experience with site layout, stormwater, erosion control, utilities, or related infrastructure systems is preferred
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required
  • MicroStation experience and familiarity with WaterCAD or SWMM for stormwater modeling are desirable
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills are required
  • Willingness and availability to travel are required
  • After an offer, candidates must provide proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Employment is contingent on successfully completing a thorough post-offer background check, which may include credit and criminal-history reviews
  • Employment is contingent on completing a pre-employment post-offer background check compliant with NIST 800-171
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to provide the required hiring documentation
  • Some site visits may involve traveling over unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment
