Engineering Manager – Portugal (Remote)
Lead engineering improvement initiatives, people development, and AI-agent adoption at MEDvidi, an AI-powered mental healthcare platform. Partner with product leaders to support autonomous teams and deliver reliable, intuitive user experiences.
Description
- Lead technical and non-technical initiatives that improve engineering beyond your immediate teams
- Find organizational bottlenecks, implement solutions independently, and measure the results
- Create an environment where engineers can raise ideas and move them forward
- Remove obstacles while maintaining team autonomy
- Hire, onboard, and develop engineers across experience levels
- Define clear performance expectations and address underperformance early and fairly
- Expand AI-agent adoption, practices, and organizational capabilities
- Work with product managers to deliver intuitive, reliable, well-crafted user experiences
Requirements
- At least 3 years of engineering management experience in a product company, excluding agency or outsourcing environments
- Provide two or three independently initiated engineering or process improvements that you led end to end, measured, and extended beyond your own team
- Comfortable with a hands-off management approach without coding, owning architecture, or acting as the technical authority
- Experience working without team leads and architects, or successfully removing that management layer
- Demonstrated ability to address underperformance early and transparently
- Experience developing senior engineers
- Use agentic AI in daily work and have driven adoption beyond your own workflow
- Able to make sound decisions with incomplete information and prioritize decisively
- Communicate openly, including acknowledging your own mistakes
- Base decisions on logic, data, and diverse perspectives
- Fluent in Russian
