Data Scientist, Credit Policy Specialist

Lead automated credit policy development at Asaas, a Brazilian fintech, using AI and Big Data to improve approval decisions, profitable growth, and risk management.

Description

  • Build and maintain the team’s technical playbook and policy simulation frameworks
  • Establish standardized A/B and Champion/Challenger testing practices, reusable decision-engine functions, and structured executive reporting
  • Direct the design, calibration, and ongoing refinement of decision strategies and rules throughout the credit lifecycle
  • Apply data analysis, optimization, backtesting, stress testing, and scenario modeling to assess financial impact before production release
  • Track active rules and strategies continuously through business and risk performance indicators
  • Recommend rapid strategy adjustments when results diverge from the established risk appetite
  • Lead the use of decision algorithms, machine learning, and mathematical optimization techniques
  • Embed artificial intelligence and automation across ideation, hypothesis validation, deployment, and production monitoring
  • Serve as the principal analytical partner for the Risk, Fraud, and Finance teams
  • Convert complex analytical findings into strategic recommendations for business decision-making

Requirements

  • Demonstrated, substantial experience developing credit risk strategies and policies in data science roles within financial institutions, fintech companies, credit bureaus, or specialized consulting firms
  • Advanced programming skills in languages used for data analysis and data science
  • Strong proficiency with Big Data languages and tools for developing analytical variables
  • Practical expertise applying machine learning to policies, A/B testing, survival analysis, constrained optimization, and decisioning frameworks
  • In-depth knowledge of credit financial metrics, including Credit P&L, risk-adjusted return, loss provision, NPL, LTV/CAC, vintages, and roll rates
  • Availability for an eight-hour workday, Monday through Friday
  • Employment under Brazil’s CLT labor regime
