Community Events Team Lead Intern

Lead remote interns and coordinate speaker programs, campus outreach, and networking events to support ONC’s nonpartisan civic dialogue.

Description

  • Lead and support Community Events interns, setting expectations and fostering accountability and collaboration.
  • Assign work, track progress, and keep deliverables on schedule.
  • Address challenges, refine workflows, and maintain smooth remote operations.
  • Keep Slack communications, project updates, and shared calendars organized.
  • Run weekly Community Department meetings and track follow-up actions.
  • Manage speaker programs, campus outreach, ONC booths, and networking events.
  • Work with the Director of Community Events, COO, and CEO on the College Campus Initiative and ONC College Chapters.
  • Coordinate outreach to speakers, mentors, subject matter experts, ONC advisors, college clubs, and campus representatives.
  • Arrange event schedules, confirm speakers, set up Zoom, publish Eventbrite listings, and communicate with attendees.
  • Coordinate event promotion and delivery with other ONC departments.
  • Help onboard interns, coach them, and offer constructive feedback.
  • Update leadership on team progress, resource needs, and issues requiring escalation.
  • Collect event feedback and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience gained through employment, internships, student groups, volunteering, or team projects.
  • Interest in event management, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Studies in business administration, marketing, public relations, political science, or a related discipline are preferred.
  • Able to lead a team confidently, delegate tasks, and hold members professionally accountable.
  • Energetic, committed, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and reliable follow-through.
  • Well organized and able to manage time across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Communicates promptly and consistently, including when handling conflict.
  • Able to lead remotely, collaborate effectively, and work independently.
  • Uses sound judgment to address issues and knows when to involve leadership.
  • Comfortable working with Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
  • Eventbrite experience is preferred.
  • Available for weekly organization-wide meetings and able to lead weekly Community Department meetings.
  • Must be authorized to complete an internship in the United States.
  • Submit a one-page cover letter outlining leadership experience and interest in the role.
  • Must be able to commit through the end of the current semester.
