Chief Technology Officer, Group Technology Platform Head – CESA 2

Lead technology strategy, resilience and platform engineering for Ecobank’s CESA 2 region. Direct regional technology leadership across architecture, modernization, cybersecurity, cloud and enterprise platform adoption.

Description

  • Act as the principal technology executive for CESA 2, translating Group and regional strategies into a measurable two- to three-year technology roadmap
  • Lead Country Technology Heads and hold them accountable for performance, risk, delivery, transformation, talent, succession and cross-country capability sharing
  • Oversee regional technology health across local, centralized, cloud, eProcess and third-party services
  • Monitor customer journeys, resolve systemic weaknesses, prepare technology for launches and remediate vulnerabilities
  • Apply enterprise architecture, security-by-design, resilience-by-design and non-functional standards
  • Maintain oversight of technology, cybersecurity, regulatory and audit risks and drive durable remediation
  • Increase platform adoption while addressing legacy and EOL/EOS systems, reducing technical debt, rationalizing technology and realizing benefits
  • Manage the regional technology budget and improve spending efficiency across infrastructure, cloud, telecommunications, software and vendors
  • Define the Group-wide platform strategy, scope boundaries, target architecture and multi-year roadmap
  • Establish engineering standards for DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, secure development, production readiness, performance, documentation and technical-debt reduction
  • Manage platform health using SLIs, SLOs and SLAs covering availability, latency, throughput, capacity, observability, disaster recovery and RTO/RPO
  • Ensure security, regulatory and data-protection compliance, govern dependencies and reduce concentration, obsolescence and vendor risks
  • Promote enterprise-wide platform adoption and reuse, eliminate duplication, retire obsolete components and measure both delivered and removed technology
  • Control platform TCO, utilization, licensing, unit economics and vendor performance while preserving internal ownership of architecture, engineering expertise and decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 15 years of IT experience, including technology service delivery and leadership in a multinational, matrixed organization
  • Substantial banking technology experience with technical engagement across one or more banking IT domains
  • Strong understanding of architecture, engineering standards, APIs and integration, data, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, performance, resilience, security and observability
  • End-to-end accountability for enterprise platforms spanning architecture, engineering, production, lifecycle management, modernization and retirement
  • Experience improving code and solution quality through DevSecOps, automated testing, CI/CD, SRE practices, capacity engineering and non-functional requirements
  • Experience managing availability, latency, scalability, disaster recovery, capacity, incident and problem management, and recurring failure-mode elimination
  • Knowledge of TCO, licensing, infrastructure and cloud consumption, vendor dependency, unit economics and value realization
  • Experience designing reusable platforms across countries, businesses and channels
  • Experience providing vendor technical leadership while retaining internal ownership of architecture and engineering decisions
  • Ability to create a clear two- to three-year modernization roadmap covering legacy remediation, cloud readiness, technical debt and platform evolution
  • Knowledge of measurable technology outcomes, including SLO and SLA attainment, availability, MTTR, deployment frequency, change failure rate, performance, capacity headroom, security vulnerabilities, technical-debt reduction and cost efficiency
  • End-to-end ownership of security assurance
