AI Engineer, Developer Productivity – Onsite in Spring, Texas

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an onsite AI Engineer in Spring, Texas, to improve developer productivity. The role focuses on AI coding tools, workflow automation, and enablement for engineering teams.

Description

  • Collaborate with the AI Process Lead and engineering teams to deliver prioritized AI productivity initiatives
  • Work directly with teams to understand coding workflows and identify practical opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain team AI resources, including AGENTS.md, GitHub Copilot instructions, reusable prompts, and workflow playbooks
  • Design and improve AI personas for applications such as pull request review, test-gap detection, and code refactoring
  • Build AI-enabled code review and developer workflow automations with GitHub, CI/CD, scripts, and internal tools
  • Prototype and deliver tools in Python or comparable technologies, supported by documentation and adoption guidance
  • Measure and communicate outcomes through adoption, cycle-time, review-quality, and defect-trend metrics
  • Support adoption with demonstrations, office hours, and training sessions

Requirements

  • At least three years of software engineering experience and strong coding ability
  • Hands-on use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable products
  • Experience delivering automation or developer tools adopted by multiple engineers
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs in an understandable way
  • Comfort working through ambiguity while staying focused on execution
  • Working knowledge of Git-based development and CI/CD systems
  • Curiosity, a growth mindset, and readiness to test, learn, and iterate quickly
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Preferred: experience designing prompts and systematically evaluating AI output quality
  • Preferred: experience producing internal technical documentation, runbooks, or enablement materials
  • Preferred: familiarity with secure coding or quality engineering practices in code review workflows
