Software Development Manager, FME Form

Descriere

  • Plan and deliver technical projects from kickoff through completion.
  • Coach developers and support their feedback and professional growth.
  • Handle direct-report duties, including performance discussions, calibration, and HR processes.
  • Work with Product, UX, and technical stakeholders to define and prioritize work.
  • Serve as the team’s product owner and project manager.
  • Manage the backlog, prioritizing features and internal improvements.
  • Guide planned work from kickoff through delivery.
  • Oversee technical delivery and identify risks early.
  • Contribute to architecture, product, and design discussions with QA, Customer Support, and other stakeholders.
  • Build an inclusive team culture grounded in collaboration and shared ownership.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and team growth.
  • Improve tools, development processes, practices, communication, and AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Connect the team with other parts of the organization.
  • Maintain and extend FME Form products used to author, share, reuse, and integrate dataflows with the FME Platform.
  • Report to the Director of Software Development.

Cerințe

  • At least 7 years of software development experience.
  • At least 3 years leading software teams as a people manager, team lead, or in a similar role.
  • Direct people management experience is strongly preferred.
  • A solid grasp of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Agile development practices.
  • Working knowledge of software development in a language such as C++, Python, or Java.
  • Product ownership or project management experience.
  • Experience managing backlogs and prioritizing features with Jira or equivalent project management software.
  • Willingness to support the use of AI tools within a development team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to support team wellbeing and build inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Ability to balance technical direction with team and business priorities.
  • An open, adaptable approach to change.
  • Confidence building credibility with experienced senior engineers.
  • C++ software development experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Safe Software’s platform or a similar technical domain is a plus.
  • Experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot is a plus.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
