Senior Analytics Engineer – dbt and Databricks

Apraksts

  • Set the analytics engineering roadmap, priorities, standards, and operating practices
  • Design and evolve analytics architecture across bronze, silver, and gold data layers
  • Build, maintain, and optimize reusable dbt models and analytics-ready datasets
  • Write and optimize advanced SQL; use Python for transformation, validation, automation, and complex processing
  • Develop dimensional and business-focused models for dashboards, self-service analysis, operational reporting, and data products
  • Define shared KPIs, calculation logic, data contracts, ownership, and authoritative sources
  • Implement automated tests, source freshness checks, documentation, lineage, and monitoring
  • Establish Git version control, code review, CI/CD, and controlled promotion between environments
  • Work with Data Engineering on ingestion, source schemas, platform performance, and data-layer handoffs
  • Collaborate with analysts, BI developers, and business stakeholders to build scalable models
  • Improve Databricks performance and cost efficiency through table design, incremental processing, query optimization, and compute management
  • Lead data quality investigations, root-cause analysis, remediation, and communication
  • Strengthen governance, access controls, sensitive-data handling, ownership, and stewardship
  • Move spreadsheet, dashboard, and ad hoc query logic into governed dbt models
  • Design resilient models for historical analysis, changing source systems, incremental loads, and evolving business definitions
  • Create technical documentation, modeling conventions, and enablement materials
  • Develop team capability through design reviews, reusable patterns, feedback, and hands-on mentorship

Prasības

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, data engineering, analytics, information systems, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least 8 years of relevant data and analytics experience, including senior-level responsibility for production analytics models and standards
  • Demonstrated success leading complex analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence engineering, or related initiatives
  • Advanced SQL skills, including designing, debugging, and optimizing complex transformations
  • Extensive hands-on dbt experience, including scalable architecture, tests, incremental models, snapshots, documentation, macros, packages, and production deployment
  • Strong Databricks experience with Delta Lake, Spark SQL, Workflows or Jobs, Unity Catalog, and performance tuning
  • Experience operating medallion architectures and lakehouse models across bronze, silver, and gold layers
  • Strong Python skills for data processing, testing, validation, automation, and engineering utilities
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling, warehouse and lakehouse design, semantic layers, slowly changing dimensions, and metric governance
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, code review, automated testing, orchestration, and environment management
  • Ability to turn unclear business needs into clear technical designs and communicate with senior leaders and nontechnical stakeholders
  • Experience in animal health, veterinary services, pet insurance, SaaS, fintech, or health technology is an advantage
