Vice President, Data Center Cost Management at JLL

JLL is seeking a Vice President to oversee cost planning, estimating, and financial controls for large-scale data center infrastructure. The role leads value engineering, client advisory, cost governance, and development of cost management teams.

Description

  • Direct cost management and financial oversight for mission-critical data center infrastructure projects
  • Prepare strategic cost plans, detailed estimates, feasibility analyses, cost models, and budget scenarios
  • Assess costs for electrical systems, mechanical cooling, fire suppression, building envelopes, and related infrastructure
  • Facilitate value engineering workshops and assess design, equipment, construction method, and lifecycle cost alternatives
  • Implement cost management frameworks, tracking tools, and reporting standards
  • Track budgets, cost trends, contingencies, change orders, payment applications, reconciliations, and variances
  • Partner with procurement teams on equipment pricing, delivery timelines, and vendor contract negotiations
  • Deliver market intelligence and counsel clients on procurement, phasing, schedule efficiency, labor, materials, and regional cost differences
  • Act as the primary cost advisor for clients, project teams, design consultants, and construction managers
  • Present cost reports, forecasts, and recommendations to executive stakeholders
  • Manage and mentor cost managers, estimators, and analysts
  • Create standardized procedures, estimating tools, and data center cost databases
  • Contribute to business development, client relationship management, and proposal preparation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, architecture, or a related discipline
  • At least 12 years of cost management or estimating experience, including substantial work with data centers or other mission-critical facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of data center construction costs, including electrical, mechanical cooling, fire suppression, and building envelope systems
  • Track record of managing costs for complex $100M-plus projects with significant MEP scope
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier classifications, TIA-942, and ASHRAE TC 9.9
  • Proficiency with CostX, Bluebeam, RSMeans, or comparable estimating software and tools
  • Strong financial expertise covering budget development, cost forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting
  • Experience with design-build, construction management, and lump-sum delivery models in data center settings
  • Highly developed analytical capabilities, with the ability to communicate actionable conclusions
  • Excellent client relationship skills and executive-level communication ability
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
