Strategic Communications and Campaigns Associate – Italy Remote

Strategic communications role supporting climate, energy, and nature campaigns in Italy through media relations, digital campaigning, and partner engagement.

Description

  • Develop and deliver strategic communications campaigns focused on climate, energy, and nature issues
  • Produce and distribute press releases, social content, quotes, and digital materials designed to build organic reach
  • Lead digital initiatives and coordinate real-time communications during major events
  • Cultivate relationships with Italian journalists, digital publishers, influencers, and content creators
  • Propose timely, focused story ideas that encourage climate action
  • Work with Italian political leaders, NGOs, academics, civil society groups, and businesses
  • Advise on communications strategies that support campaign objectives
  • Strengthen the spokesperson network and help raise public profiles
  • Track Italy’s political and media environments to identify opportunities for strategic engagement
  • Deliver practical insights to internal colleagues and external partners
  • Handle additional communications responsibilities and strategic projects as required
  • Report to the Italy Desk Lead
  • Support campaigns serving both Italian and broader European strategies
  • Develop and sustain partner networks to increase political and media attention on priority issues

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to create and pitch compelling stories that engage Italian audiences
  • Strong knowledge of climate communications and the ability to advise partners on messaging and outreach
  • Proven success leading effective climate campaigns
  • Experience in digital media campaigning, including analyzing metrics and assessing performance
  • Independent, proactive approach with the ability to build partnerships across the climate sector and initiate and manage projects
  • Ability to turn campaign concepts into delivered communications with diverse teams, experts, and external partners
  • Strong media-monitoring skills, sound time management, and the ability to respond quickly to breaking news and emerging trends
  • Experience developing campaigns and communications outputs and coordinating their delivery with colleagues and experts
  • Resident in Italy
  • Native-level Italian
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to addressing climate change
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, varied role involving collaboration across time zones through tools such as Slack and Google Workspace
  • Commitment to an inclusive, empowering approach to climate action
  • Additional languages are an advantage
