SATCOM Planner Engineer III – Communications, Tampa Onsite

Plan and manage secure commercial and military satellite communications networks for SES Space & Defense in support of SOF operations. Coordinate bandwidth, interoperability, network configuration, and mission-critical government connectivity.

Description

  • Plan communications for deployed SATCOM terminals across commercial and MILSATCOM networks
  • Partner with SATCOM engineers to design and implement global SOF satellite networks
  • Review satellite access requests and select the most suitable network for each requirement
  • Develop configuration plans and coordinate implementation with relevant SOF strategic entry points
  • Distribute Satellite Access Authorizations, cut sheets, and configuration files
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network systems, track incidents, coordinate resolutions, and report operational status
  • Maintain interoperability and seamless connectivity across internal and external systems, including DVS-G, NIPRNET, SIPRNET, JWICS, BICES, and CENTRIX
  • Monitor program-of-record systems and bandwidth utilization across terrestrial and satellite links
  • Track and report protocol usage, network topologies, traffic patterns, and capacity requirements
  • Analyze, design, evaluate, select, upgrade, and configure communications systems, operating systems, protocol suites, and communications media
  • Coordinate network operations with public carriers and circuit providers
  • Participate in engineering, customer, and business meetings
  • Lead or train less-experienced SATCOM planners
  • Manage satellite bandwidth and perform iDirect hub administration, quality control, and service desk duties
  • Oversee MILSATCOM planning, SAR/GAR submissions, IP management, waivers, denial tracking, SOFLE planning, COCOM coordination, PIM management, beam change requests, AISR requirements, and L-TAC requirements
  • Resolve cross-platform interoperability issues and configure systems for user environments
  • Support the acquisition of hardware, software, and subcontractor services
  • Contribute to proposal development efforts
  • Support and reinforce the organization’s mission, values, and culture

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, plus at least five years of relevant information systems or network systems engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Fluency in the relevant technologies and application domain
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance
