Senior Director, Full-Stack Engineer – Global Payment Network | Capital One (Remote)

Description
- Lead and expand multiple teams of product-oriented software engineers
- Set long-term technical direction and architecture standards for enterprise platforms
- Coordinate product roadmaps with scalable technology capabilities alongside senior engineering and business leaders
- Own talent planning, succession management, skills development, and equitable career opportunities
- Coach engineers in their technical and professional growth
- Create market-focused applications and customer experiences with product managers
- Advance software engineering practices across Agile teams
- Design, build, test, deploy, and support full-stack solutions
- Set standards for solution quality, availability, resilience, and scalability
- Deploy new and existing applications in AWS environments
- Build and operate resilient, high-volume, low-latency systems supporting domestic and international payment rails
- Develop solutions across core network products while simplifying integration for global participants
- Apply automation and AI-native engineering to provide real-time insights and strengthen fraud and risk mitigation
- Promote innovation, inclusion, collaboration, self-organization, and diversity across the engineering organization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative discipline
- At least 7 years of experience managing people
- At least 9 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
- At least 9 years of experience with enterprise architecture and design patterns
- At least 9 years of experience with cloud computing across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
- At least 9 years of experience in data architecture
- Experience with web technologies, distributed HPC and machine learning systems, databases, networking protocols, and third-party distributed systems
- Proficiency in Go, Java, JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala
- Experience with public cloud services, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and supporting their professional development
- Experience leading cross-domain architecture reviews or establishing coding and design standards
- Expertise in strategically applying agentic AI coding tools
- Demonstrated use of AI-powered tools, frameworks, or modern software development practices
- Fintech experience in payment processing, merchant services, or digital payment architecture
- Experience delivering enterprise software, large-scale data migrations, and platform transformations
- Experience architecting, testing, and operating real-time distributed data systems and high-volume pipelines
- Ability to build and develop high-performing engineering teams
