Senior Data Engineer — Remote in Brazil

Senior Data Engineer building scalable pipelines and data platforms for GFT Technologies’ analytical initiatives. The role focuses on performance, data quality, and governance across distributed environments.

Description

  • Build and expand scalable data platforms that enable analytical and strategic initiatives.
  • Create and maintain resilient, high-performance pipelines for large-scale data processing.
  • Handle substantial volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Safeguard data quality, consistency, and governance across the full data lifecycle.
  • Develop workflows for ingesting, transforming, and delivering data.
  • Partner with software engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
  • Help shape data architecture decisions and assess emerging tools and technologies.
  • Track and improve data-processing workflows in distributed systems.
  • Contribute to the modernization and ongoing development of data platforms.

Requirements

  • Substantial Data Engineering experience in distributed computing environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Apache Spark and Scala.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including Glue, S3, EMR, Athena, and Redshift.
  • Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and pipeline engineering.
  • Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Experience processing data through both batch and streaming models.
  • Knowledge of established practices for data quality, security, and governance.
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or Amazon MSK is preferred.
  • Knowledge of modernizing legacy systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Apache Hudi, or Apache Iceberg is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data-focused DataOps and CI/CD tools such as dbt, Airflow, and Terraform is preferred.
  • Experience designing or working with Lakehouse architectures is preferred.
  • Background handling high-volume data environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of data observability and pipeline monitoring is preferred.
  • Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for team-based work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work autonomously, organize priorities, and manage time effectively.
  • Interest in solving complex, innovative technology challenges.
