Remote Business Development Manager, Data Center – Emerson

Lead Emerson’s data-center automation sales across North America from a remote U.S. role. Grow revenue by developing strategic partnerships and advancing Appleton solutions with customers and channel partners.

Description

  • Expand Emerson’s presence and revenue across the data center sector
  • Source, cultivate, and convert opportunities among owners, operators, engineers, contractors, and channel partners
  • Strengthen long-term relationships with strategic customers
  • Use targeted customer outreach to advance commercial goals
  • Manage a healthy opportunity pipeline, forecasts, and regular business reporting
  • Work with regional sales colleagues to shape account plans and market expansion strategies
  • Guide project specifications and introduce Emerson offerings early in the buying process
  • Track industry developments, customer priorities, and competitor movements to uncover new opportunities
  • Coordinate with marketing on conferences, webinars, and demand-generation programs
  • Act as an Emerson representative in customer discussions, industry conferences, and trade events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or another technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least five years of successful business development or sales experience
  • Demonstrated ability to increase revenue in a B2B setting
  • Excellent skills in relationship management, communication, and presentations
  • Ability to build sales approaches around customer requirements and market signals
  • Background collaborating with teams across multiple functions
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems
  • Availability for travel representing approximately 50–70% of working time
  • Current legal authorization to work in the United States

  • Experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, electrical systems, automation, or industrial technology
  • Familiarity with power distribution, thermal management, automation, networking, or comparable technologies

  • Documented success establishing and expanding strategic customer accounts
  • MBA or another advanced business degree
