Description

  • Investigate advanced home insurance claims and major losses, verifying the circumstances and facts of each loss
  • Assess policy coverage and resulting damages
  • Adjust and negotiate claims within authorized discretionary limits
  • Develop effective relationships with internal and external customers across multiple insurance lines
  • Review regulatory requirements and fair-practice standards when assessing settlement options
  • Select the most appropriate settlement approach for each claim
  • Negotiate highly complex settlements and arrange the associated payments
  • Maintain complete and accurate claim-file documentation
  • Prepare and review damage estimates for complex first-party home insurance claims
  • Work as an individual contributor without supervisory duties

Requirements

  • A valid AMF licence is required
  • An AEC in property and casualty insurance is considered an asset
  • At least five years of field experience
  • Experience handling major-loss files
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the wording and provisions of the company’s insurance policies
  • Strong understanding of fundamental estimating principles
  • Strong English skills are required for regular, effective communication with customers, advisors, or employees across Canada, unless otherwise specified
  • Equivalent education and experience may be accepted instead of the stated educational qualifications
