Construction Engineer I – Utility-Scale Solar (Remote, U.S.)

Remote Construction Engineer I supporting SOLV Energy’s utility-scale solar, battery storage, and substation projects. The role covers warranty analysis, field engineering, pile testing, and construction technology implementation.

Description

  • Collect field data, photographs, as-built records, and installation details to support warranty claim assessments.
  • Record and organize potential design, manufacturing, and installation issues for engineering review.
  • Support GPS-enabled pile driving, drone surveys, machine-control datasets, and other construction technology deployments.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering datasets while assisting with drone flights, data collection, and uploads.
  • Coordinate engineering information, drawing revisions, clarifications, consultant responses, and RFIs.
  • Maintain document-control systems, drawing sets, data-room folders, submittals, and version records.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and owner or independent engineer comment cycles.
  • Track engineering deliverable schedules and support mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate pre-construction pile load testing, including drill-rig scheduling, field logistics, and test setup.
  • Document, track, organize, and communicate pile-testing procedures and results.
  • Compare drawings, verify quantities, review plan sets, visit sites, and conduct field observations.
  • Identify and escalate engineering risks while contributing to SOPs, workflows, databases, and lessons learned.
  • Develop working relationships with project managers, superintendents, field engineers, consultants, and internal engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, environmental studies, or a closely related technical field preferred.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification preferred, or willingness to pursue it.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, electrical, and geotechnical engineering drawings.
  • Foundational knowledge of construction processes, pile load testing, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to perform field work, including walking construction sites, collecting data, observing installation methods, and participating in testing.
  • Willingness to learn and support drone surveys, GPS-enabled equipment, and digital field-data systems.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
