Manufacturing Engineer - Wood-Mizer, Batesville, Indiana

Wood-Mizer is hiring an onsite Manufacturing Engineer to improve CAD documentation, plant layouts, and production methods at its Batesville, Indiana facility. The role supports manufacturing efficiency, quality, equipment planning, and collaboration with production teams.

Description

  • Coordinate manufacturing processes at the Batesville, Indiana facility
  • Build and maintain accurate 3D CAD models
  • Prepare drawings, tolerances, bills of material, assembly instructions, and quality checklists
  • Improve manufacturing methods across fabrication, tooling, equipment, finishing, assembly, and quality control
  • Assess workflow, floor-space needs, and workforce utilization
  • Create efficient equipment and workspace layouts
  • Resolve product and process problems with manufacturing personnel
  • Review, develop, and process product improvement requests
  • Define product specifications with vendors and coordinate equipment, material, and parts purchases
  • Calculate production times, staffing needs, and associated costs
  • Use statistical techniques to project future manufacturing requirements
  • Coordinate manufacturing capabilities and production schedules with management and staff
  • Comply with Wood-Mizer safety, quality, and operating procedures
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • One to three years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to create engineering models, drawings, and bills of materials
  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using 3D CAD software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working with manufacturing database systems
  • Creo experience is preferred
  • ERP experience is preferred, particularly with Syteline
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer frequently
  • Ability to stand and walk on the production floor occasionally
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to wear required production-floor PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
