Lead Data and Analytics Developer, Customer Analytics

Lead customer analytics development at NiSource by building data products, dashboards, and self-service analytics. Guide data governance, technical delivery, and analytics maturity.

Description

  • Serve as the subject-matter and business intelligence expert for customer analytics technologies
  • Promote adoption of self-service analytics capabilities
  • Build and implement data models, datasets, reports, dashboards, and integrated analytics solutions
  • Advise the Data Product Owner on Data Lake design
  • Define, promote, and monitor compliance with business intelligence policies and standards
  • Collaborate with IT on the stability, performance, upgrades, and roadmaps of user-facing technologies
  • Learn customer processes, enterprise platforms, and table structures to extract and report accurate data
  • Develop interactive dashboard strategies and encourage stakeholder adoption
  • Track individual and team deliverables, schedules, and project milestones
  • Use Python and SQL to shape and extract data
  • Apply advanced methods for monitoring data quality
  • Evaluate opportunities for predictive and prescriptive data science solutions
  • Consult internally to advance analytics maturity, deliver strategic insights, identify opportunities, develop strategies, and mentor staff
  • Lead complex data product and visualization initiatives
  • Mentor and coach team members, review and delegate work, and guide technical design and implementation
  • Support emergency response activities, which may occur outside normal hours or typical responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • At least five years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data science, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience with data acquisition methods and tools, including Tableau Prep, SQL, Python, and Power BI
  • At least five years of experience using data visualization or analysis software such as Tableau, Excel, Cognos Analytics, and Power BI
  • At least five years of experience using Python, R, SQL, and Prep tools to shape and extract data
  • At least two years of experience leading analytics developers or analytics projects
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • No requirement for employer sponsorship now or in the future
  • Related utility-industry experience preferred
  • Experience with statistical modeling preferred
  • Experience as a data steward and knowledge of data governance preferred
  • Strong business acumen preferred
