Lead Content Designer – Workforce Australia

Lead content design for Workforce Australia, creating accessible web, app, and notification content for the national employment services program. Improve participant experiences across digital employment services.

Description

  • Lead the design, planning, writing, review, and maintenance of Workforce Australia content across web and notification channels.
  • Create clear, accessible, engaging content for participants.
  • Develop and maintain content using style guides, content patterns, strategies, and policies.
  • Use evidence, data, and research to improve content and the user experience.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in an agile delivery environment.
  • Manage work through Azure DevOps.
  • Join workshops and planning sessions to define requirements and features.
  • Create documents, presentations, and talking points.
  • Support channel leads and the director.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Carry out line-management and leadership duties.
  • Oversee multiple content projects at the same time.
  • Monitor delivery progress and communicate updates.
  • Identify and manage risks, resolve issues, and deliver to deadlines.
  • Create content for WorkforceAustralia.gov.au, the mobile app, digital assistant, and email, SMS, and in-app notifications.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain Baseline security clearance.
  • Experience writing, editing, structuring, and maintaining complex content that meets user needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, consultation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to apply Australian Government and departmental standards, including WCAG 2.1, the Government Style Manual, and Digital Service Standards.
  • Experience advising managers and senior executives on content design.
  • Professional experience producing website content as a web writer or content designer.
  • Experience working with HTML.
  • Experience using content production and analysis tools such as GatherContent, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console is desirable.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related field are desirable.
  • Qualifications or training in writing, content design, online accessibility, or UX design are desirable.
  • Experience creating system-related communications and applying a strategic approach to content is desirable.
  • Experience developing information architecture and content structures that improve the user experience is desirable.
  • Current CV of 3–5 pages.
  • Responses to the essential and desirable criteria, limited to 5000 characters per response.
