Intermediate Data Engineering Advisor

Design Microsoft Fabric and Azure data solutions for Wepoint’s digital transformation clients, integrating clinical and administrative healthcare systems across Quebec.

Description

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure that support analytics, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Assess data sources, define ETL/ELT integration logic, and apply established design patterns.
  • Create high-performance data flows in Microsoft Fabric and organize data with suitable models.
  • Implement data quality controls and contribute to unit and integration testing.
  • Protect the integration, security, and confidentiality of clinical and administrative data.
  • Manage code, traceability, and deployments through Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Document solutions, share expertise, and help operationalize data products.
  • Work with architecture, security, operations, and stakeholder teams.
  • Set integration and interoperability strategies across source systems, Microsoft Fabric, and analytics products.
  • Design event- and metadata-driven integration patterns for batch and near-real-time processing.
  • Establish rules for data flow, transformation, traceability, reconciliation, and error handling.
  • Create technical governance mechanisms for classification, lineage, and access control.
  • Align solutions with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Microsoft Purview, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD standards.
  • Develop flow models, data contracts, technical decisions, standards, and integration templates.
  • Evaluate dependencies across clinical and administrative data sources and recommend sustainable integration approaches.
  • Review development team proposals and ensure end-to-end consistency.
  • Evaluate performance, resilience, scalability, and operationalization challenges.
  • Help teams implement strategic direction and resolve complex technical issues.

Requirements

  • Fluent spoken and written French.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, management, or a related discipline.
  • Degrees earned outside Quebec require an equivalency assessment from MIFI.
  • Specialized certification from a recognized authority in information technology.
  • Five years of data engineering experience.
  • Over four years of business intelligence experience, including three years of data engineering in Quebec’s healthcare network.
  • One year of experience with Microsoft Fabric or Databricks.
  • Active participation in at least two projects developing analytics solutions that integrate provincial clinical information systems and healthcare facilities.
  • Experience with Git/GitHub, SQL, Python, and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Direct Lake, pipelines, notebooks, and Spark environments.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, DAX, and JSON.
  • Knowledge of Azure platforms and tools such as Azure Data Lake Gen2 and Data Factory, plus governance and metadata tools such as Microsoft Purview.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in Canada.
