General Counsel at Rythm (California Remote)

Rythm is hiring a General Counsel to guide its at-home blood-testing and personalized health business across compliance, contracts, litigation, growth, and strategic risk.

Description

  • Act as Rythm’s primary legal advisor across the business
  • Work closely with founders and executive leaders on strategic priorities and business decisions
  • Lead compliance across CLIA, CAP, FDA, HIPAA, advertising, privacy, marketing, and other regulatory areas
  • Advise on claims substantiation, consumer protection obligations, and risk management
  • Direct litigation strategy, dispute resolution, and relationships with outside counsel
  • Oversee intellectual property, trademarks, licensing, and brand protection matters
  • Review and negotiate commercial, vendor, partnership, and corporate transaction agreements
  • Support product, marketing, operations, and growth teams on legal issues and opportunities
  • Build scalable legal processes, policies, and frameworks for continued company growth
  • Balance business speed and innovation with legal and regulatory risk in a fast-growing startup

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of legal experience, including substantial work with consumer-facing businesses
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to a state bar
  • Experience advising high-growth consumer, healthcare, wellness, subscription, ecommerce, or regulated companies
  • In-depth knowledge of CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, FDA, marketing, and consumer protection requirements
  • Strong background managing claims substantiation and regulatory review processes
  • Experience overseeing litigation, class actions, and external legal counsel
  • Proven commercial contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills
  • Track record of serving as a strategic legal partner to founders and executive teams
  • Sound judgment when balancing legal exposure against business priorities
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, changing environments
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal matters to non-lawyers
  • Experience as General Counsel or Associate General Counsel at a high-growth consumer brand
  • Background in healthcare, diagnostics, wellness, supplements, or health technology
  • Experience with M&A transactions and corporate development initiatives
  • Experience helping venture-backed startups navigate rapid growth
  • Previous experience at a top law firm
