Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer, Applied AI

Deploy Mistral AI’s end-to-end solutions for enterprise customers, from LLM applications and model fine-tuning to production integrations. Partner with customers and internal research, engineering, and product teams to deliver advanced AI use cases.

Description

  • Onboard customers to Mistral AI products and APIs.
  • Advise customers on prompting, evaluation, and model fine-tuning.
  • Support reliable production integration across backend and frontend interfaces.
  • Build advanced generative AI applications for consumer and industrial use cases.
  • Help move high-impact AI applications into production across multiple industries.
  • Partner with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer engagements.
  • Contribute to LLM fine-tuning, advanced applications, inference systems, and open-source codebases.
  • Join pre-sales discussions to understand customer needs and technical challenges.
  • Provide technical direction and explain Mistral technologies to stakeholders.
  • Work with product and science teams to improve products and model capabilities using customer feedback.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with CEOs, CTOs, data scientists, and software engineers.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English.
  • PhD or master’s degree in artificial intelligence or data science.
  • At least two years of experience as a technical individual contributor, such as a data scientist or software engineer, working on AI-based products.
  • Experience fine-tuning LLMs and developing advanced RAG or agentic applications.
  • Strong understanding of the concepts and algorithms underlying machine learning and LLMs.
  • Experience building and deploying LLM or NLP applications.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing AI or machine learning products with APIs, backend systems, and frontend interfaces.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience applying deep learning with PyTorch.
  • Experience with agent frameworks such as LangChain and vector databases.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Open-source contributions related to LLMs are preferred.
  • Experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager is preferred.
