Field Service Technician, HVAC Data Centers — Texas Remote

Commission, troubleshoot, and repair Munters climate-control systems at data center customer sites. The role involves extensive travel throughout Texas and across the United States.

Description

  • Travel to customer sites to start up, commission, troubleshoot, and repair data center equipment safely.
  • Work independently and oversee onsite start-up commissioning projects.
  • Coordinate other onsite trades and service providers.
  • Deliver factory start-up, commissioning, warranty, and billable service for Munters data center equipment and systems.
  • Care for and safeguard Munters equipment and property.
  • Handle customer and management service requests promptly.
  • Train customers to operate and maintain Munters equipment.
  • Document technical feedback in detailed field service reports.
  • Provide rapid support for customer needs as a member of the Field Service team.

Requirements

  • Bring at least five years of mechanical experience, with extensive HVAC expertise.
  • Travel frequently, up to 90%, throughout the United States by air and car.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems extensively, diagnose faults proficiently, and record findings.
  • Know applicable safety procedures and requirements, including arc-flash and lockout/tagout training.
  • Know how to select and use personal protective equipment required for electrical safety.
  • Apply extensive refrigeration expertise, including pressure testing, evacuation, system charging, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis.
  • Perform brazing and soldering proficiently.
  • Hold a universal refrigeration certification card.
  • Demonstrate extensive controls experience, including troubleshooting, programming, and downloading control-system data.
  • Understand PLCs across different platforms, including how to access information, adjust settings, and connect a computer for communication and changes.
  • A state-licensed master HVAC mechanic credential is optional.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Communicate effectively with site personnel, Sales Project Managers, the Service Manager, and Technical Support.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent; trade school education is preferred.
  • Be able to travel and remain away from home for several days at a time.
  • Be willing to take on-call assignments when required.
  • Be willing to work occasional weekends and holidays.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Be willing and able to work at heights of six feet or more when required.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection.
