Field Property Claims Adjuster - Texas Remote

Farmers Insurance is hiring a remote Field Property Claims Adjuster to investigate residential property damage and negotiate claim settlements. The role covers virtual and on-site inspections in the Crosby, Dayton, and Liberty, Texas areas.

Description

  • Conduct virtual and on-site inspections at policyholders’ residences
  • Assess property damage, establish liability, determine loss scope, and negotiate equitable settlements
  • Use claims software, a company vehicle, and a laptop to assess damage and prepare estimates in a paperless workflow
  • Identify and document potential subrogation opportunities
  • Report suspected theft, fraud, and arson to the appropriate state and industry authorities
  • Work independently while performing duties that directly influence management outcomes
  • Represent the company professionally during public interactions
  • Coordinate with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other relevant parties
  • Negotiate claim resolutions with policyholders
  • Complete other assigned responsibilities
  • Follow safety and ergonomic requirements and promote safe work practices
  • Travel between policyholder residences throughout the Crosby, Dayton, and Liberty areas
  • Work both in the field and from a home office

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong customer service experience, preferably in retail
  • Construction or insurance experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Comfort using smartphones and mobile applications
  • Willingness to learn insurance policies and property damage assessment
  • Valid driver’s license and bondable status
  • Finalists must complete a motor vehicle record background check
  • Ability and willingness to climb ladders and access rooftops multiple times daily
  • Ability to work in confined areas, including attics and crawlspaces
  • Must achieve a passing score on all claims training examinations
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and enter information in English
  • Ability to work in varied and potentially hazardous field conditions
  • Catastrophe-team hires must travel away from home for approximately 23 days when deployed and commit to one to three CAT deployments annually
