DevOps Engineer – On-Premises Kubernetes, Bonn

Description
- Design, build, and operate on-premises Kubernetes platforms
- Automate infrastructure workflows with Infrastructure as Code tools
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Implement platform monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Configure network policies and service meshes while optimizing east-west traffic
- Maintain high availability, scalability, and resilience across the container platform
- Integrate new services and microservices into Kubernetes environments
- Diagnose complex cluster issues and improve platform performance
- Apply security controls including RBAC, secrets management, network policies, and image scanning
- Deploy and operate bare-metal storage for Kubernetes
- Administer CSI drivers and distributed storage platforms
- Oversee the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters and related system components
- Partner with development teams to advance DevOps practices
- Maintain documentation and operational concepts while improving technical standards
Requirements
- Extensive experience operating Kubernetes in on-premises environments rather than only through managed cloud services
- Working knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or CRI-O
- Experience implementing and operating service meshes
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage CI/CD pipelines
- Practical experience with monitoring and observability
- Advanced Linux administration skills, especially with Ubuntu, RHEL, or SLES
- Scripting and automation skills using Bash and Python; Go experience is advantageous
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies
- Understanding of high-availability architectures and cluster design
- Networking expertise spanning TCP/IP, load balancing, Ingress, firewalls, and DNS
- Experience using Ansible or Terraform for Infrastructure as Code in regulated environments
- Experience with Kubernetes storage systems
- Experience with GitOps or configuration automation
- CKA, CKAD, or CKS certification is an advantage
- Strong team orientation and a high sense of responsibility for critical systems
- Willingness to engage with new technologies and projects
- Enthusiasm for open-source tooling
