Community Disaster Program Specialist - Corpus Christi, TX (Onsite)

Support American Red Cross disaster programs and volunteers across the Victoria and Corpus Christi region. Coordinate community engagement, local disaster services, volunteer development, and regional response deployments.

Description

  • Support Disaster Program leaders and managers across the Victoria and Corpus Christi region
  • Help manage disaster programs and volunteer operations, with a primary focus on volunteer engagement and assistance during recurring local emergencies such as home fires and floods
  • Perform regional functions assigned by the appropriate functional manager
  • Provide guidance and practical support to trained volunteers
  • Deliver initiatives that strengthen Red Cross visibility through programs and services
  • Coordinate diverse volunteer teams delivering volunteer-led disaster cycle services
  • Help carry out disaster cycle services activities and functions within the assigned geographic area
  • Track, gather, and evaluate operational data to improve services for individuals and communities
  • Recruit and engage disaster volunteers who reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the communities served
  • Help prepare Disaster Leadership Volunteers for disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery
  • Take part in regional disaster response operations after completing required training
  • Work throughout the assigned area to connect with and mobilize communities while supporting volunteers
  • Deploy to disaster relief operations outside the region at least once annually

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least three years of experience in social services or service and program delivery, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Current valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required
  • Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to create project plans and budgets
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Availability to work outside standard hours, including nights and weekends
  • Must satisfy all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment
  • Regional disaster employees must deploy to disaster relief operations outside their region at least once each year
