Build and Release Engineer (Florida Remote)

Description

  • Develop and deploy software directly while mentoring and leading a small engineering team
  • Guide architecture decisions and the technology stack
  • Build applications from source across .NET Framework and .NET Core codebases
  • Assemble and validate complete deployment packages for every release
  • Manage and perform scheduled production releases outside standard working hours
  • Deploy web applications through IIS and Windows Services, including SQL Server database updates
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for development environments and production
  • Automate database releases covering schema updates, stored procedures, and data migrations
  • Help developers improve branching practices and local development workflows
  • Investigate deployment problems across application, web, service, and database layers
  • Work with cloud engineering to improve infrastructure and environments

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional software engineering experience, including two or more years directly managing production deployments and their underlying infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success updating established legacy systems and older technology frameworks
  • Practical experience building and deploying applications with Microsoft .NET Framework and .NET Core
  • Proficiency with C# and VB.NET
  • Hands-on experience configuring, deploying to, and troubleshooting Windows Server and IIS
  • Experience installing and upgrading Windows Services
  • Experience with AWS EC2 or a comparable cloud or virtualized environment
  • Experience deploying SQL Server changes, including schemas, stored procedures, and data migration scripts
  • Strong deployment automation skills, especially with PowerShell
  • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
  • Experience automating deployments to auto-scaled compute fleets using machine images, rolling instance replacement, health-check-based promotion, and failure rollback
  • Availability to perform production releases during scheduled off-hours windows
  • Preferred: Experience running Windows workloads on AWS EC2 and managing AMI pipelines
  • Preferred: Experience with Ansible, Packer, or comparable configuration-management tools
  • Preferred: Familiarity with SQL Server Data Tools and DACPAC deployments
  • Preferred: Experience working in a SOC 2 environment
  • Preferred: Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry
