Associate Director, CNS Scientific Communications – Otsuka Remote

Lead global scientific communications strategy for Otsuka’s CNS assets in a remote role. Translate complex clinical evidence into clear, compliant medical content and engagement plans.

Description

  • Help implement globally aligned medical communications strategies for assigned CNS assets
  • Align communication priorities with asset strategy, lifecycle stage, and the changing external environment
  • Turn scientific and clinical insights into effective communication approaches
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Evidence Generation, Regulatory, and Commercial stakeholders
  • Help build Medical Communication Plans covering content and channel strategies
  • Support congress planning and delivery while monitoring communication deliverables
  • Help establish Scientific Communication Platforms and uphold scientific rigor across content
  • Create disease-state, field, and congress materials
  • Support digital, omnichannel, AI-enabled, and other innovative engagement approaches
  • Contribute to cross-functional asset teams and maintain alignment with global messaging
  • Ensure communications are accurate, evidence-based, compliant, and ethically developed
  • Support scope planning, resource allocation, agency collaboration, and operational improvements
  • Deliver high-quality work efficiently within approved budgets and timelines
  • Manage and develop managers and other cross-functional contributors
  • Promote scientific excellence, innovation, accountability, and collaboration
  • Apply best practices, analytics, insights, and stakeholder feedback to improve communication strategies

Requirements

  • An advanced degree such as a PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent in science, medicine, or a related discipline
  • At least 7 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, or a related pharmaceutical or biotechnology role
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience, including developing and managing team members
  • Experience supporting global communication strategies and integrated planning
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders
  • Experience in the CNS therapeutic area is strongly preferred
  • Ability to convert complex scientific evidence into clear, strategic communication plans
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills, including experience chairing cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in content strategy, omnichannel engagement, and digital communication tools
  • Strong project management skills with experience handling multiple high-priority initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including executive presence
  • Strategic perspective and business acumen to connect scientific communications with enterprise objectives
  • Experience using AI and digital tools to improve content development and delivery
