AI Engineer, Developer Productivity (On-site)

Help engineering teams use AI to improve coding workflows, code review, automation, and developer enablement at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Build practical AI tools, team playbooks, and measurement programs that improve software delivery.

Description

  • Work with the AI Process Lead and engineering teams to deliver prioritized developer productivity initiatives
  • Study team coding practices and identify practical opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain team AI resources, including AGENTS.md, Copilot instructions, reusable prompts, and workflow playbooks
  • Design and improve AI personas for code review, test coverage analysis, refactoring, and related use cases
  • Build AI-enabled code review and developer workflow automations with GitHub, CI/CD, scripts, and internal tools
  • Prototype and ship tools in Python or comparable technologies, supported by clear documentation and adoption guidance
  • Measure and communicate outcomes such as adoption, cycle time, review quality, and defect trends
  • Support adoption through demonstrations, office hours, and team training

Requirements

  • At least three years of software engineering experience with strong programming ability
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable products
  • Track record of delivering automation or developer tools adopted by multiple engineers
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs in an understandable way
  • Comfort working through ambiguity while keeping delivery on track
  • Familiarity with Git-based development and CI/CD practices
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to test, learn, and iterate quickly
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience designing prompts and evaluating the quality of AI-generated output is a plus
  • Experience producing internal technical documentation, runbooks, or enablement materials is a plus
  • Exposure to secure coding or quality engineering practices within review workflows is a plus
