Actuarial Associate, Group Disability Pricing – Guardian Life, Bethlehem Hybrid

Develop pricing rates and state filings for Guardian Life’s group disability insurance products while supporting actuarial analysis and pricing initiatives. Rotate across departments in the company’s actuarial leadership development program.

Description

  • Build a detailed understanding of Guardian Life products and connect daily responsibilities to organizational objectives.
  • Support financial and non-financial analyses and recommend actions that promote growth and profitability.
  • Rotate among departments every 18 to 24 months through the Actuarial Leadership Development Program.
  • Analyze internal and external data to assess industry trends, clients, competitors, and regulatory conditions.
  • Deliver assignments on schedule and to supervisor-defined standards, working independently whenever appropriate.
  • Perform rate development and state rate filings aligned with the Group Finance Strategy Team’s strategic priorities.
  • Provide actuarial guidance for product, underwriting, finance, and distribution initiatives that affect pricing models and rates.
  • Propose and help implement advanced methods that modernize pricing processes and increase accuracy.
  • Report to the Head of Disability Pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Actively pursue actuarial examinations toward the Society of Actuaries Fellow designation.
  • At least two years of previous actuarial work experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with actuarial modeling and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to explain pricing analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables concurrently.
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities, including the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship or support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science.
  • Actuarial Associate designation from the Society of Actuaries.
  • Three to five years of previous actuarial work experience.
  • Knowledge of group pricing practices, including experience-based analysis.
  • Previous Group Pricing experience, especially with disability coverage.
