Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist

Manage accounts payable and receivable operations, including payments, reconciliations, reporting, collections, and chargeback resolution for a family-owned children’s furnishings company.

Description

  • Oversee vendor invoices, pending payments, and supplier relationships across the full accounts payable cycle.
  • Complete account reconciliations, variance reviews, and recurring month-end closing activities.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant tax filings and financial reports.
  • Prepare financial statements and support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for management and external stakeholders.
  • Support the annual audit by coordinating with external auditors.
  • Own General Ledger activities and maintain accurate entries and reporting.
  • Monitor accounting regulations and legislation to ensure adherence to GAAP.
  • Process and post daily payments received by check, ACH, credit card, and wire.
  • Apply incoming payments to invoices and keep account balances accurate.
  • Assist with collections and resolve customer discrepancies involving overdue balances.
  • Oversee chargebacks and disputes through resolution while reconciling related accounts.
  • Distribute weekly customer statements and prepare accounts receivable reports for management.
  • Review and analyze AR aging daily in partnership with the sales team to reconcile accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • One to three years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or both within wholesale distribution.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Shopify experience and experience managing large accounts are preferred.
  • Experience with Navision, Databricks, Sigma, or Concur is preferred.
