Field Service Technician – Methane Emissions Survey Operations at ABB

Operate methane detection equipment for ABB’s natural gas utility surveys. Support customers through field service, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and emissions reporting.

Tavsif

  • Drive company vehicles fitted with methane and ethane sensors and specialized equipment to locate potential natural gas emissions across assigned survey areas
  • Use detection data to perform on-foot surveys, assess and grade emissions, and record findings
  • Provide flexible field coverage across service regions in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri, Birmingham, Alabama, and Gulf Coast Alabama
  • Manage workloads, provide vacation coverage, and fulfill contracted survey commitments
  • Work directly with gas utility customers to resolve operational issues
  • Set service timelines and expectations while delivering customer support
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Analyze data to identify trends and produce actionable insights
  • Install, repair, and perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance on ABB equipment
  • Document findings, prepare detailed technical reports, and maintain complete records
  • Submit field service reports, timesheets, expense reports, and other required documentation

Talablar

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • At least one year of field experience in a customer-facing technical support role is required
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% as needed
  • Ability and willingness to hold and maintain a valid passport and driver’s license
  • Previous experience in the natural gas utility industry, particularly with sustainability initiatives, technology innovation, and regulatory compliance, is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and explain technical information to nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Research and Development, Product Management, Sales, and Business Development teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software is required
  • Must pass an evaluation to become Operator Qualified; training and opportunities to complete the required tasks will be provided
  • Must already have US work authorization permitting employment with ABB
