Lead Jagex’s design organisation for its new RuneScape MMORPG, shaping progression, economies, content, and live systems. Work with the Creative Director and partner teams to build a persistent world for players.

Tavsif

  • Turn the Creative Director’s vision and design pillars into a consistent MMO experience that can scale.
  • Lead the design architecture for progression, combat, economies, content, social systems, endgame, and player retention.
  • Define design direction and quality standards through clear principles and frameworks.
  • Build and develop the Design team, coaching Design Leads and senior designers.
  • Clarify decision-making and areas of ownership across the Design team.
  • Create systems and content that support years of player progression, engagement, and live development.
  • Work closely with Creative, Production, Engineering, UX, Analytics, and other partner teams.
  • Draw on playtests, game telemetry, and player feedback to find issues and improve the experience.
  • Identify and manage MMO challenges such as economic health, progression balance, content consumption, exploits, and technical limits.
  • Partner with the Creative Director to develop and operate the new RuneScape MMORPG at scale.

Talablar

  • A successful game design career, including substantial work on MMOs or persistent online worlds.
  • Senior design leadership experience as a Design Director, Lead Designer, Principal Designer, Game Director, or equivalent on at least one shipped MMO or major persistent online game; ideally from pre-production through launch.
  • Ability to turn a Creative Director’s vision, design pillars, and player promise into a unified MMO design framework.
  • Deep knowledge of MMO systems, including character progression, itemisation, economies, combat and encounters, social features, and endgame.
  • Experience creating or owning an MMO content model and balancing the rate of new content with player consumption.
  • Significant experience on a live MMO or persistent online game, informed by telemetry and community feedback.
  • Strong grasp of the technical demands of developing an MMO.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine or a similarly complex AAA development environment.
  • A record of leading and mentoring a sizeable, multidisciplinary design organisation.
  • Enthusiasm for MMOs and an understanding of what sets RuneScape apart.
