Azure Data Engineer
Build Azure data pipelines, storage, and datasets for SAIC’s defense and mission technology solutions. Deliver secure, governed data products that support analytics and operations.
Opis
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and datasets for analytics and operational insights
- Manage data ingestion, transformation, and product delivery across Azure services
- Develop, schedule, and monitor batch and near real-time pipelines in Azure Data Factory
- Manage Azure Blob Storage access tiers, lifecycle policies, partitioning, and folder structures
- Design and tune Azure SQL datasets, including schemas, indexes, and query performance
- Develop dimensional models using star and snowflake schemas, 3NF, normalization, and Data Vault patterns
- Implement data quality and governance through validation, profiling, lineage, documentation, schema evolution, and data contracts
- Improve pipeline runtimes, SQL queries, and storage I/O; add alerts, retry logic, and cost controls
- Work with analytics, product, and operations teams to deliver trusted, secure, performant, documented data products
- Apply security and compliance controls, including RBAC, data masking, encryption, and key management
- Share platform best practices and build reusable templates and components
Zahteve
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience, or four years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust, which requires U.S. citizenship
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory pipelines, data flows, linked services, triggers, and parameterization
- Strong experience with Azure Blob Storage containers, access tiers, lifecycle management, and SAS or managed identities
- Strong experience with Azure SQL Database or Managed Instance, including schema design, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Practical knowledge of star and snowflake schemas, 3NF, and Data Vault concepts
- Understanding of Kimball and Inmon data warehousing approaches
- Proficiency with JSON, Parquet, CSV, and Avro
- Experience managing schema evolution and versioning for these formats
- Strong SQL skills for complex queries and transformations
- Python scripting experience preferred; Scala experience is also relevant for transformations, utilities, and automation
- Experience with Git-based workflows
- Experience integrating data pipelines with Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines or equivalent CI/CD tools
- Demonstrated experience monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting production data pipelines
- Preferred: Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics
- Preferred: Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric
- Preferred: Experience building Power BI semantic models, incremental refresh, relationships, calculation groups, and DAX
- Preferred: Experience with Event Hubs, Azure Functions, or Databricks/Spark Structured Streaming
- Preferred: Experience with Bicep or Terraform and familiarity with ARM templates
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar tools
