Senior Regional Rail Engineer – Washington (Remote)

Lead railroad engineering projects, client relationships, technical delivery, and growth initiatives across multiple U.S. regions. Help expand Horrocks’ rail practice through design leadership, business development, and team mentoring.

Apraksts

  • Provide regional leadership for railroad projects and contribute to strategic growth initiatives in the assigned territory
  • Direct planning, design, coordination, and delivery for tracks, terminals, spurs, mainlines, yards, and sidings
  • Coordinate with railroad operators on DOT and municipal agency projects involving at-grade crossings, grade-separated structures, and utility crossings
  • Act as a senior technical advisor on rail design, grading, drainage, and related infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, railroad operators, public agencies, and industry partners
  • Contribute to business development through client outreach, proposals, pursuits, industry organizations, and conferences
  • Mentor engineers, designers, and junior staff while providing technical direction across offices and project teams
  • Partner with Project Managers and regional leaders on staffing, resource allocation, and operational effectiveness
  • Work with federal, state, and local agencies across multiple states to maintain regulatory and railroad-standard compliance
  • Direct QA/QC implementation and adherence throughout project development and delivery
  • Help establish consistent practices for rail engineering, coordination, design, and project delivery
  • Travel periodically for client meetings, site visits, regional coordination, and industry events
  • Handle additional responsibilities as required

Prasības

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in rail, transit, railroad infrastructure, transportation, or land development engineering projects
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Record of leading multidisciplinary rail engineering projects and managing client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of design standards for track, at-grade railroad crossings, grade-separated structures, and utility crossings
  • Experience mentoring technical staff and leading engineering teams across projects or offices preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD platforms and standard engineering software
  • Strong business development, communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with railroad personnel, clients, agencies, contractors, and internal teams
  • Ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to travel regionally as needed for project delivery and client engagement
