Assistant Manager, Controllership – Hyderabad (Hybrid)

Lead record-to-report close, reconciliations, reporting and controls for Warner Bros. Discovery’s Hyderabad Accounting COE. Help transition and improve processes through automation and SAP/BlackLine initiatives.

  • Oversee record-to-report accounting and controllership for assigned Warner Bros. Discovery entities and business areas.
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end and annual close tasks.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, amortizations, reclassifications and ad hoc entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve outstanding items.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement variances.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations and resolve imbalances.
  • Prepare financial schedules and management reporting materials.
  • Maintain SOX documentation, perform assigned controls and escalate exceptions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, statutory obligations, walkthroughs, testing and information requests.
  • Help transition, transfer knowledge, stabilize and document record-to-report activities in the Hyderabad Accounting COE.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, ownership matrices, close checklists, KPIs and escalation processes.
  • Take part in training, shadowing, testing and readiness work.
  • Find and implement opportunities to standardize, simplify, automate and continuously improve processes.
  • Assist with SAP and ERP changes, BlackLine enhancements, integrations, reorganizations, user acceptance testing and finance transformation work.
  • Apply advanced Excel, Power BI and other tools to strengthen analysis, controls, reporting quality and productivity.
  • Guide processes and share knowledge, including training support, without direct people-management duties.
  • Help the Manager RTR track issues, arrange backup coverage, set priorities and escalate concerns.
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc work requested by the Manager RTR or stakeholders.

  • A relevant finance or accounting qualification, such as an MBA, B.Com, CA Inter, CMA Inter or M.Com.
  • 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably under US GAAP.
  • Strong background in record-to-report work, period close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, financial reporting support, audits and internal controls.
  • At least 2–3 years of SAP FI/CO experience.
  • Experience with transitions, transformation, process stabilization or migration work.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced functions.
  • Experience in a multinational or multicultural matrix organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and issue-resolution abilities.
  • Very good written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Attention to detail, personal ownership, and commitment to quality, compliance and timely delivery.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones.
  • Ability to work from the Hyderabad office three days per week.
  • CA, CPA or CMA certification is an advantage.
  • SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA and BlackLine exposure is preferred.
  • Power BI working knowledge is preferred.
  • Big Four public accounting experience and/or prior work in a captive finance shared services centre or global capability centre is desired.
  • Experience in media, entertainment, production, distribution or a related industry is desired.
  • Experience with finance transformation, automation, process standardization or system implementation is desired.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment is desired.
