Strategic Engineer, Electrical I&C and Mechanical

Lead lifecycle planning, asset management, risk reduction, and technology integration across Vistra’s nuclear power fleet. This full-time onsite role is based at one of four U.S. nuclear plants.

Description

  • Develop and execute long-term lifecycle strategies for Vistra’s nuclear fleet
  • Build replacement and refurbishment plans with defined milestones and schedules
  • Forecast future budget requirements for Vistra
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define outage and preventive maintenance scopes
  • Manage plant assets across each stage of their lifecycle
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners on critical materials and components
  • Assess operational risks and establish mitigation measures
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Assess how new technologies affect long-range plans and component lifecycles
  • Deliver technical support across the nuclear fleet
  • Translate technical information clearly so work and repairs are performed correctly

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer licensure or additional experience is preferred but not required
  • Understanding of current and emerging regulatory, code, and broader industry matters
  • Proficiency in technical evaluation methodologies
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plant technologies
  • At least eight years of power plant operations, engineering, or comparable industry experience is preferred
  • Ability to apply foundational scientific principles
  • Strong communication skills with colleagues, leadership, and external agencies
  • Capacity to deliver projects and strategies with limited oversight
  • Evidence of sustained high performance through successive evaluations or relevant external work history
