Staff Application Engineer – Chiller Systems

Lead technical sales support and chiller-system design for Johnson Controls data-center solutions. Advise field teams, tailor equipment configurations, and support quotations and order execution.

Description

  • Support chiller product sales through Johnson Controls HVAC system branches and export-market sales and marketing teams.
  • Provide pre-sales technical guidance and resolve system-level product application questions.
  • Prepare special quotations and coordinate order execution with Order Management and Contract Engineering.
  • Work closely with field sales on chiller-solution applications and equipment installation within HVAC systems.
  • Recommend system applications, practical solutions, and competitor-informed approaches.
  • Create field-sales tools and documentation while automating responses to recurring inquiries.
  • Use internal engineering systems and documentation to address detailed product questions.
  • Assess emerging technologies and industry developments to identify innovative chiller-system options.
  • Design and tailor chiller systems for data-center applications.
  • Help sales teams resolve equipment, project, and code-related challenges.
  • Coordinate with sales, design engineering, and product management to deliver customer responses.
  • Request supplier quotations and communicate pricing and lead times for specialized products.
  • Keep current on Johnson Controls and competitor products, market conditions, regulations, and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 10 years of experience, preferably in HVAC or a related chiller-technology field.
  • Understanding of refrigeration-system principles and associated equipment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for factory, customer-site, and field visits related to training.
