Senior Quality Manager, Assurance and Regulatory Compliance

Lead Barnes Aerospace’s enterprise assurance program, internal audits, and regulatory compliance across global sites. Improve quality management system effectiveness and address systemic risk.

Description

  • Lead multi-site assurance, including risk-based audit planning, shared methods, auditor qualification and calibration, reporting, and QMS-effectiveness reviews.
  • Set enterprise regulatory-compliance requirements and align common controls across sites.
  • Align documentation and implementation for shared requirements while retaining appropriate site manuals, certificates, and procedures.
  • Set standards for audit planning and execution, reporting, corrective-action follow-up, and effectiveness checks.
  • Track compliance health, audit trends, certification status, significant findings, and indicators of systemic risk.
  • Report findings and recommendations and escalate issues to executive leadership.
  • Oversee enterprise compliance with AS9100, AS9110, Nadcap, customer, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate certification and regulatory audit readiness, and support major customer, certification body, aviation authority, and Nadcap audits.
  • Review significant findings, escapes, and compliance events, including containment, root-cause and corrective-action quality, product impact, effectiveness checks, and lessons shared across sites.
  • Identify and escalate systemic Quality and regulatory risks to the Global VP Quality.
  • Work with QMS & Process Excellence, Supplier Quality, site Quality Managers, and Operations leaders to improve performance.
  • Build and sustain a qualified internal-auditor community through coaching, calibration, and development.
  • Build relationships with Site Quality Managers and Site General Managers while respecting site responsibility for daily Quality execution.
  • Travel domestically and internationally about 20–30% of the time.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive Quality, regulatory, manufacturing, or engineering experience in a complex aerospace manufacturing or maintenance setting.
  • Experience leading multi-site or cross-functional internal audits, certification readiness, regulatory compliance, or quality-system assurance.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and/or AS9110, relevant customer-specific requirements, and aerospace quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with AS13100 is preferred.
  • Strongly preferred: experience with Nadcap requirements, audit preparation, responding to findings, corrective-action effectiveness, and special-process compliance.
  • Working knowledge of applicable aviation-authority requirements.
  • Strongly preferred: familiarity with FAA regulations; familiarity with EASA, UK CAA, and other international aviation authorities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of risk-based and process-based auditing, root-cause analysis, CAPA, nonconformance control, management review, risk management, and regulatory-change management.
  • Ability to independently evaluate compliance and process effectiveness, identify systemic risk, and present evidence-based recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, lead cross-functional corrective actions, and align Site Quality, Operations, Engineering, and other functions.
  • Strong analytical, project-management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working across cultures and time zones and adapting to changing priorities in a global organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Preferred: experience with QMS software, audit-management tools, ERP/MES systems, and business-intelligence tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Aviation, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant technical experience may be considered.
  • Strongly preferred: Lead Auditor certification for AS9100 and/or AS9110 auditing.
  • Preferred: other relevant auditing credentials, such as ASQ Certified Quality Auditor.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. export-control requirements; non-U.S. Persons may need an export-control license.
