Software Engineer, Data Platform — Numeric (Hybrid, San Francisco)

Description

  • Own and operate the financial data plane supporting Numeric’s accounting platform
  • Build resilient ingestion pipelines from NetSuite, Stripe, Brex, Ramp, HubSpot, S3 inboxes, and Postgres into ClickHouse
  • Apply data contracts and typed schemas at system boundaries
  • Manage lakehouse schemas through declaration, code generation, and application pipelines
  • Implement query scoping and access controls to safeguard customer data
  • Develop batch-processing systems and event-driven accounting workflows
  • Strengthen data accuracy, observability, ingestion health, re-ingestion, and traceability from ledger entries to raw events
  • Create scalable reporting query patterns and materializations
  • Partner with accounting module, reporting, and AI-agent engineering teams
  • Develop accounting expertise, shape product direction, and own architecture end to end

Requirements

  • At least three years of software engineering experience, including substantial work with data-intensive systems
  • Strong SQL skills and practical knowledge of columnar stores, partitioning, and query performance
  • Experience with a modern transformation or orchestration stack such as SQLMesh, dbt, Dagster, Airflow, or an equivalent
  • Strong general-purpose programming ability, primarily in TypeScript and Python
  • Experience building or operating production data pipelines, lakehouses, or warehouse systems
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, idempotency, watermarks, and backfills
  • Familiarity with auditability and fail-early, fail-explicitly system design
  • Comfort working with TypeScript services, ClickHouse, Postgres, and transformation tooling
  • Preferred experience includes ClickHouse, Iceberg, Athena, multi-tenant data isolation, PII handling, SOC 2 or audit controls, financial or accounting data, Temporal, or Inngest
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work from San Francisco
