Irth Solutions develops SaaS tools that help energy, utility, and telecommunications companies strengthen the resilience of critical network infrastructure and manage operational risk. Its platform brings together damage prevention, 811 ticket management, workforce training, asset inspections, land management, business intelligence, analytics, and geospatial data to support proactive decision-making across infrastructure networks in the United States and Canada. Following the acquisition of OneBridge Solutions, Irth Solutions also offers expanded capabilities for asset performance management.

Senior Risk Model Engineer, Pipeline Integrity

Migrate and develop probabilistic and machine learning models for Irth Solutions’ pipeline integrity platform. Deliver explainable, regulator-ready risk assessments.

Description

  • Move probabilistic models onto Irth’s risk platform.
  • Check migrated results against the current implementation.
  • Combine model inputs from datasets across Irth’s products.
  • Expand threat models to cover corrosion, cracking, third-party damage, outside forces, and other transmission pipeline risks.
  • Build time-series, anomaly detection, and geospatial models using inspection, sensor, and maintenance data.
  • Add Irth’s model library to the existing suite.
  • Generate explainable, defensible risk assessments for pipeline operators and regulators.
  • Maintain model computations, rationale, and evidence of correctness.
  • Coordinate with ML Ops and data engineering teams on model serving, data pipelines, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Work with data engineering, ML Ops, data science, and subject matter experts from initial design through validated implementation.
  • Help verify that existing models produce equivalent results on the new platform.
  • Implement and support customer-developed models on the platform.
  • Make model outputs reproducible and traceable.

Requirements

  • Experience building or validating quantitative risk, reliability, or failure models for physical infrastructure.
  • Pipeline experience is preferred; work with rail, structural, water, electric, or other utility assets is also relevant.
  • Familiarity with pipeline integrity codes and regulations, such as ASME B31.8S, 49 CFR 192, CSA Z662, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience with fitness-for-service and remaining-strength assessments, corrosion growth modeling, or fracture mechanics.
  • Experience handling inline inspection (ILI) data, including vendor formats, data alignment, anomaly classification, and feature disposition.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo simulation, structural reliability, and uncertainty quantification.
  • Experience applying machine learning to physical asset data, including time-series, survival, anomaly detection, and classification models validated against sparse or imbalanced events.
  • Experience with consequence-area and class-location analysis.
  • Geospatial analysis experience using tools such as ArcGIS, PostGIS, or linear referencing.
  • Experience preparing model validation evidence for regulatory, audit, customer, or other formal review.
  • Strong software engineering practices, including testing, code review, reproducibility, and disciplined use of AI-assisted development tools.
  • Deep expertise in at least one listed capability area and the ability to learn and collaborate across the others.

Benefits

  • Compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Company-paid holidays.
  • Flexible work options.
  • Work-from-home opportunities, depending on role and business needs.
  • On-call compensation for eligible shifts.
