Senior Principal Data Scientist, Marketing Data Specialist

Senior Principal Data Scientist responsible for advanced modeling, ethical AI, and marketing data analysis at Navy Federal Credit Union. Leads strategic analytical initiatives, technical projects, and data-informed business solutions.

Description

  • Set and evolve governing principles while shaping new policies
  • Create innovative solutions by exploring complex, high-dimensional datasets
  • Uncover opportunities, frame business questions, and derive meaningful findings
  • Formulate and validate hypotheses, then analyze and interpret results
  • Build and code sophisticated software, algorithms, and automated workflows
  • Convert complex business and technical requirements into clear technology objectives
  • Document and communicate findings to stakeholders supporting critical decisions
  • Act as a subject matter expert and advanced individual contributor
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, subject matter experts, and senior leaders
  • Investigate and implement emerging best practices and ethical AI approaches
  • Provide senior leaders with guidance based on analytical insights and solutions
  • Lead technically complex projects and high-impact initiatives
  • Drive the creation and improvement of practices, procedures, and instructions
  • Serve as the team’s primary technical resource
  • Mentor and support less experienced employees

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Deep professional expertise, business acumen, and conceptual knowledge
  • A specialized technical skill set
  • Strong understanding of business dynamics and strategy
  • Knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, trend analysis, visualization, and advanced mathematics
  • Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala, and AWS
  • Project management capability
  • Experience executing model lifecycles
  • Technical writing ability
  • Data storytelling and technical presentation skills
  • Research capability
  • Mentoring ability
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive capacity for independent judgment
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable quantitative discipline
  • PhD in a related field preferred
  • Availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
